What's wrong with what we have? I know PHPBB is better, but it's a bit of a hassle to get a PHPBB forum up. I do have the access to do so now that Haguey's given me the FTP stuff, but still... maybe I'll set one up, lol.

Vbulletin > YaBB > Invision > PhpBB VBulletin is the godlike boards YaBB is what we are using now PhpBB is just a backwards step.

Well, what I like about the phpbb settup that we don't have now, is the fact that it has pretty much unlimmitted storing space, seeing as it's set up in a private FTP rather than a free hosted space. Can I get a link to this VBulliten thing?
And Haguey, way to make no sense what-so-ever. However, I think I can decipher that... "Nah, we are going to stay on proboards and mess with it. I don't want yo messin' with my FTP and I'll change the password. LoL"

Ok, I took a look at vBulletin, and it costs a bitch load of mulah. No way we're getting one. We had an Invision forum before, and it looked good and all, but it ran out room really fast. Maybe we shouldn't be uploading a bitch load of images, but what the hell.

Maybe we shouldn't be uploading a bitch load of images, but what the hell. Wrong, Vbulletin is made by professionals, its system is the most streamlined, its the most efficient, its the fastest board, its the most customizable, it has the most efficient use of database space. Any corporation with forums uses vbulletin. It has almost no bugs or errors in its coding. And its the most compatible with other sorts of scripts. 160 for a board like vbulletin is a golden offer. You should really think about looking at the code yourself. From what I see since I have purchased over 30 licenses to the board and have unlimited reign over their scripts, vbulletin is by far the most polished piece of work you can have. From a architectural standpoint the application has a dynamic structure allowing more efficient database queries. Its the only board which has proxy-resolution features allowing translation of NAT or Proxy addresses into proper raw format. To say you dont have the money to buy it is one thing, but to say you wont get it and its shit is just basically opening yourself up to a shitload of discrimination by people who work with advertising, scripting, programming, coding, etc. Put it this way, there is a reason why boards that a huge such as gamerzplanet, yaxay, hostingdiscussion, phphelp, other sites with large forums, use VBulletin. Its the only board tested and proven to run the best under the grimmest of situations. If you had enough banwidth to support 5000 users on simutaniously, vbulletin would be the only bulletin board to be able to run it under the php environnement. Vbulletin shines where others fail.

vBulletin maybe great but I have ran phpBB on my home computer and there is nothing wrong with it. Plus this site doesn't have the demand some companys site do. 30 licenses Why so many?

vBulletin maybe great but I have ran phpBB on my home computer and there is nothing wrong with it. Plus this site doesn't have the demand some companys site do. 30 licenses Why so many? I've hosted hundreds and hundreds of sites before I began gaming. I used to think PhpBB was great untill I began using Vbulletin. Not only that its compatability with hivemail and PhpChat was absolutely outstanding nevermind the other modifications available. PhpBB could never live up to the stature and bar that Vbulletin has set in serious communities, companies, corporations, the development community, and others. There is a reason Atari Community uses Vbulletin instead of PhpBB. Vbulletins features allow for Atari to have that many threads and use a relatively low amount of database space. In ratio for each prune Vbulletin needs out of 10gbytes, PhpBB needs at least 10 (1:10.) You can test it out for yourself. Not only that but you guys seem to want to use more extravagant designs PhpBB is not your choice by default. Vbulletin is more customizable, and even allows you to execute your own Php Code within the design. However if you had ever seen Ravio which specialized in Vbulletin skins you'd quickly forget about PhpBB. If you wish I could send you a private copy of the Vbulletin software, however you can only use them for private purposes only. There is a difference between professionals coding something and a group of entheusiasts.

Like I said in terms of the server...You get what you can afford, sure the bells and whistles would be nice, but who's paying for all those bells and whistles?
