So... what went wrong?
In Japan it was quite clear. I rushed to the core, was first at the rocket launcher, all was quiet at the core so I moved on to intercept the SFIs. Strangely I met only one, who I killed, and then I noticed the core disappearing. They had gone around the back route and apparently won the struggle at the core.
I don't think the route to the core should matter. It's still all about who controls the area around the core. In fact, we could have had an advantage had I gone back (one more player plus the firepower of the rockets). Though then they would've had their guy with rockets too.
But let's get a bit more scientific. Where could we improve ourselves?
- designated jobs. In Russian Rampage Groove was told to snipe, but I forgot and took the sniping gun. Sorry about that. Though I did manage to snipe the guy with the core. ;D Maybe we should keep this in every map - Villa doesn't have sniping positions, and Siberia has two (entrance tunnels and top hill). If there's no real sniper position, just dowuchyalike. In Siberia I'd suggest leaving the top of the hill for the designated sniper. The tunnel entrance could be done by the tunnel defender(s). After all, it's not a pure sniper position, sometimes you have close up targets too.
I'll add something about sniper positions to this forum later.
- group movement. At one point (Antarctica) me and Groove were taking the upstairs route and ran unopposed into their base. On the stairs Groove hit a nana and slipped. I thought about waiting, but went on. Of course I slipped in the canteen and we were seperately disposed off. Lesson learned: stick together. However, try to move around each other. If one goes left, stick to the right of the route and walk a bit in front / behind each other. That way you're not as vulnerable to nades. (like happened at one point in Russian Rampage)
At one point we were talking about studying all the maps and laying out tactics for that. This work has already been done, check out www.geneland.com/DDWalkthrough.php.
Anything else?
