Well, I guess that if you don't want to have to deal with an admin on you a** over a single cuss word, just don't play on SFI's server. ;D

Both the SFI and the ST server rules request language be kept clean. BTW, people generally aren't kicked over swearing once, but if that person keeps it up after being asked to stop then they're booted.

There is no mod or option available that can censor conversations in NOLF2 Multiplayer. It doesn't matter what the game is rated, the SFI servers have simple rules that need to be followed, and one of these is 'no profanity' whatsoever. All the rules for our servers can be read at the SFI forums as well as at the NOLF2 Clans Forums. Failure to obey these rules can result in booting or banning. We don't enforce rules in order to be domineering or snobby, we at SFI just don't condone that kind of talk. We want our servers to be fit for children to play in. Considering both of my children play NOLF2, I have a personal interest in this. There is no excuse for swearing, it isn't an accident and it certainly isn't necessary. Using vulgar language only shows you have no manners, no control of your emotions and a lack of intellect. Not sure what constitutes swearing? Anything that a priest, a pastor, your grandmother, your kindergarten teacher or your mom would be disappointed to hear coming out of your mouth is probably something you shouldn't say. I would say your insinuation that anyone who uses a profane word is devoid of intellect, manners and has out of control emotions, in fact comes across as a bit snobby. You can be exposed to profane lanquage wether you attend school at Harvard or the local community college, a church or a anger management session. I think that statement in itself is a tad offensive with a holier-than-thou undertone In addition, not everyone that visits the server is aware that there is a clan website, I know that I certainly wasn't aware of that until approximately 2 weeks ago. Had I been aware of the existence of a clan site in addition to the fact that there were server behavior guidelines, then I would have visited that page so that I could be aware of the rules before I spent any great deal of time there. It might be a good idea to inform player that there is in fact rules that they should review prior to playing on the server so that they may avoid a "banning or booting". Now that I am aware of this, I will surely stop by to review those rules. ;D

Sorry for not being clearer, by swearing I meant doing it semi-regularly in a public place. I'm not anal enough to freak out over 'one word'... although there are a few single words I actually would react harshly to. I swear myself upon occasion, but never in public because I was brought up not to do that. The fact is many of the younger generation think they sound 'cool' by using profanity and that just is not the case. There is nothing cool about it. (Same goes for smoking and doing drugs.) It's been my experience that people who swear a lot tend to do it just to get attention or appear older than they are. See, I'm probably around the age of many of your mothers and I tend to 'preach' like I would to my own kids. I'm sorry if that comes off as snobby to you. I'm honestly just trying to help and clear things up.
It's constantly been a pain not to be able to have it posted anywhere on the game that there are server rules. Eliteone has tried tweaking the message of the day that appears when you start the game, but no such luck. When someone is behaving badly in one of our servers, we always warn them first before banning/booting, which is the best we can do right now.

I can appreciate what your point is but issues become resolved more easily and quickly when people don't feel as if they are being insulted or their character demeaned. I have in fact already been to the site to review the server rules and have also posted them on our forums so that all our players who play on SFI servers can be aware of them. On a more positive note, OMG! I so totally didn't know that SFI had Elite Force servers. I love Elite Force!, Groovy!, I'll have to re-install it on my pc and check it out. ;D

Yeah, another way for folks like me to see cussing is mearly a part of character. I cuss a lot, especially here on the net, and nobody has a problem with it. In fact, there is a lot of people here at my school who are like you, Belladonna, who don't like to cuss, especially in public, and don't really care to hear it either, but they at least have the idea to not really take offense from stuff becuase they understand that no offense was ever intended! When I hear "f**k you" during PE when I dodge someone's dodgeball, I don't hear an offense, I hear simple frustration, no need to worry about it, cuz there isn't anything to worry about.

I noticed our forum doesn't censor English words like bugger, or bollocks. I wonder if it does Beavis and Buttheadish - you know, buttmunch, fartknocker, bunghole, etc.
Are those allowed on the server?

Nope, still there. It seems as long as you're a bit creative, you can get away with it.
